About NZWETA
New Zealand Water and Environment Training Academy
NZWETA, a joint venture between the New Zealand Water and Wastes Association and Opus International Consultants, provides education and training for all sectors of the broader water and wastes industry.
A strong emphasis is placed on responding to industry need and demands for training. Where there is a need and an established demand, we will develop training and related services to meet that demand.
Since beginning in 2002, many able participants have achieved qualifications and additional skills that are recognised, respected and valued by the Water and Environment industry.
NZWETA is committed to ensuring that the training needs of employers and employees are realised and to maintaining strong links throughout the industry.
New Zealand Water and Wastes Association
The New Zealand Water and Wastes Association is a national, not-for-profit organisation that is the principal voice of the water sector. Approaching its 50 th birthday, NZWWA’s 1500 corporate and individual members in New Zealand and overseas are drawn from the total water industry and water environment including local authorities, water utilities, consultants, suppliers and providers to the industry.
Focusing on the sustainable management and promotion of the water environment and encompassing the three waters – fresh, waste and storm waters – the Association pays particular attention to information sharing and networking, to training and learning and to professional development. The knowledge and experience of the NZWWA’s membership is harnessed through the Association’s network of Special Interest Groups and the Water Supply and Drainage Managers’ Groups.
Recognising that the effective delivery of workplace learning and of new skills is critical, the NZWWA is a committed stakeholder in the Water Industry Training Organisation, part of the Agriculture ITO, as well as facilitating a number of its own training seminars. For the past 5 years the Association has been a committed joint venture partner with OPUS International in growing NZWETA as the industry vehicle for the delivery of specialist water sector training. Opus International Consultants

Opus has a long association with training in New Zealand through its specialist Environmental Training Centre (ETC). ETC prides itself in designing and delivering training that "hits the mark" to meet the need of adult learners and their employers.
