About NZWETA
New Zealand Water and Environment Training Academy (NZWETA)
NZWETA, is a joint venture between Water New Zealand and Opus International Consultants, it provides education and training for all sectors of the broader water and wastes industry.
A strong emphasis is placed on responding to industry need and demands for training. Where there is a need and an established demand, we will develop training and related services to meet that demand.
Since beginning in 2002, many able participants have achieved qualifications and additional skills that are recognised, respected and valued by the Water and Environment industry. More than 1600 have commenced reticulation qualifications and nearly 900 have entered into national certificates and diplomas in water or wastewater treatment. Many more thousands have completed unit standards or professional development training over the same period.
NZWETA is committed to ensuring that the training needs of employers and employees are realised and to maintaining strong links throughout the industry.
Opus International
Opus has a long association with training in New Zealand through its specialist Environmental Training Centre (ETC). ETC is a registered private training establishment (PTE) with the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA). For more than 50 years ETC has designed and delivered training that "hits the mark" to meet the need of adult learners and their employers.
ETC tutors are experienced professionals, all highly regarded in the industry as experts and working consultants. ETC caters for varying learner numbers, large and small groups.
ETC provides the administration and development role for NZWETA.

Water New Zealand
Promoting and enabling the sustainable management and development of the water environment
Water New Zealand is an independent not for profit association of water professionals and organisations. It is the country's largest water industry body, providing leadership and support in the water sector through effective advocacy, collaboration and professional development. Members are drawn from all areas of the water management industry including regional councils and territorial authorities, consultants, suppliers, government agencies and scientists.
Recognising that the effective delivery of workplace learning and of new skills is critical, Water New Zealand is a committed stakeholder in the Water Industry Training Organisation, part of the Agriculture ITO, as well as facilitating a number of its own training seminars. For the past 9 years the Association has been a committed joint venture partner with OPUS International in growing NZWETA as the industry vehicle for the delivery of specialist water sector training.
