National Diploma in Wastewater Treatment (Site Technician)

Increasingly stringent environmental requirements have placed a greater focus on the treatment of wastewater and the handling of biosolids. With the introduction of new quality assurance and discharge limits, more specialised training is now required to meet industry demands.

This course has been specifically developed for supervisors or people in sole charge of wastewater treatment plants. It is also suitable for managers and professionals seeking a specialised wastewater qualification.

Unlike earlier qualifications, on-site assessment of practical competence is now considered an essential component of water industry qualifications.

Qualification
National Diploma in Wastewater Treatment (Site Technician); Level 5, 133 credits
Length
The course takes two years of part time study, including 20 days in the classroom. Alternatively, the majority of the course may be completed by distance learning.
Requirements
The Diploma is open-entry, so anyone may enrol, however an entry level industry qualification or a relevant tertiary degree and industry experience is desirable. You will need access to an appropriate plant to fulfil the practical course component.

Withdrawals and Cancellation Policy
  • If you cannot attend a course, a substitute participant is welcome.
  • If you withdraw from a course in writing or by email more than five working days prior to the course, you will receive a full refund less a $20 administration fee.
  • If you withdraw within five working days of the course, you will get a 25% refund.
  • If you do not attend the course and have not advised us in writing or by email before the start date the full fee will apply.
  • If a course is cancelled due to lack of numbers by NZWETA, you will be advised and your course fee will be refunded in full.
