National Certificate in Reticulation- Water or Wastewater
This qualification has been specifically developed to deliver highly relevant technical training to the reticulation industry.
The Certificate has two strands:
- Water strand: for people installing and maintaining drinking water reticulation systems.
- Wastewater strand: for people who work with wastewater and storm water reticulation systems.
On-site assessment of practical competence is now considered an essential component of water industry qualifications.

Core skills and knowledge
- Health and safety guidelines for roadside and confined spaces
- Impacts of hygiene on public health
- Use of tools and equipment
- Basic civil construction procedures
- Relevant mathematical skills
- First aid
- Communication skills.
Reticulation specific skills
- Design and operation of reticulation systems
- Reticulation system component materials and fittings
- Trenching and trenchless technology
- Cleaning and disinfection (water strand)
- Blockage clearance and maintenance procedures (wastewater strand).

Length |
The course takes one year of part time study, including 12 days in the classroom. |
